Direct flight at low rates are available through ATA, Pleasant Hawaiian Air or Sun trips. Both have 800 numbers. United, Hawaiian, Aloha, Delta, American, and other airlines also fly into Hawaii. You can fly direct to Maui (Kahului -OGG), or with a stop in Honolulu Oahu or on the Big Island of Hawaii at Kailua-Kona or Hilo.

TIPS for best airline fairs:

1.) Try all the sites below. Choose your closest airport for departure then select OGG for destination (Kahului, Maui). Also, select "nearby airports" and "surrounding dates" - within 3 days either side, or so). For example, flying with 1-stop in Honolulu on a date just before or after your first date choice, could be $400 less.

2.) Fly to Honolulu first, the take an inter-island flight to Maui (Go-air, Midway, Hawaiian, Aloha, and often new carriers. For more expensive, but direct flights, choose Kahului, Maui (OGG).

Especially when traveling with children, choosing a safe area with a nice clientele (ie: Polo Beach, Grand Wailea, Kea Lani...) - it's generally worth paying extra when compared to a vacationing in a lower end, budget priced area. However, there may be safe, affordably priced accommodations elsewhere also.
